I had (as of an hour ago) an '01 1500 5.3/auto 4x4. Traded the Dodge for it.

Cmann's vehicle history:

-'87 S10 2.8/auto 2wd (fixed, broke, sold)
-'78 F150 351M auto 4x4 (on 38.5s, parted out)
-'89 D250 (brought me here)
-'91 F250 351/auto 2wd (fixed, traded for tractor, sold tractor)
-'89 F250 351/ZF 4x4 (fixed and sold)
-'02 F250 diesel/ZF 4x4 (current)
-'01 1500 5.3/auto 4x4 (traded for Dodge, sold)

I feel like there may have been another '88-'91 F250 in there that I have forgotten about. That's 2010-present.

Gross.

I don't know why, but GM stuff fights me 100% of the time. There is 6 of us that run together and I am the only one with a non-GM truck. Two Duramaxes, three S10s, and me. I DESPISE GM products. They stopped making trucks in '87.

I actually agree with the 87 thing Caleb. Seems like once the plastic set in it was down hill from there. I do however like the 5.3 engine tho and the 6.0 is pretty good to.....for a gas guzzling pig. The three 1/2 ton 5.3 trucks I had gave great service. It was the little things that pissed me off, fading plastic, peeling paint,O2 sensors going out,.....the list goes on.

You're partially right. Your forgetting Blazers, Suburban's, Crew Cabs, and some Cab/Chassis models. They stayed classic square till '91 8)

I'm not a fan of the ifs they insist on running. I don't care how it makes it ride. The extra wear parts, and tie rod issues aren't worth it to me

I was referring to their move to IFS . I've never been impressed by the ride. I'd take a straight axle and long leaves over IFS.

I'm sure those 6.0s are fine Ellis but they're a dog compared to an 8.1, worked on Cummins, or 7.3. It's all relative to me

Talking about longevity, power meh....there ok for hauling ass,not much on grunt. They'll get the job done....it'll just take longer.
IFS in a half ton ain't bad,if left alone. Keep ol'jim bob away from the torsion bar bolts and they last. In 3/4 ton above,I'll pass.

My brother has that 5.3, 5 speed truck he beats the eyeballs out of. It has right at 300k miles and that engine e still runs great and only uses 1/2 quart of oil between changes at 5000 miles.

A friend of mine had a half ton Chevy with the 4.8 that he beat the living stih out of. He sold it because he didn't trust it to not leave him stranded. It burned some oil, and didn't run so great when he relived himself of it. Bought a Chrysler Sebring to drive

Apparently Levi likes women with wieners according to the FB comment he made on my post last night.

Aah that's right Andy. I was kind of thinking about that post while I was typing mine, but decided to give Levi the benefit of the doubt
