You figured right

Anyone have any experience with DPMS ar rifles? I'm looking at buying two from a guy for what one cost, both fire/function properly.

Buy them before he sells to someone else. I don't have one but a guy I hunt with a lot does and he really likes it.

DPMS is a middle of the road manufacturer, but if you can buy two for the price of one and they're not hot, who can afford to be picky?

I'm partial to Sig Sauer, but you could do a lot worse than DPMS.

Yeah,I've heard good and bad as well. I hear all kinds of opinions, most you can smell the bs oozing from them. I'm going to pick them up tomorrow,I spoke with the dude about 30min ago and we're suppose to go shoot them.
One is really nice, lots of stuff piled on it. The other just has a red dot on it,pretty much walmart website picture perfect.

The guys in a bind, lost his job due to Mississippi phosphate (makes some sort of acid) going bankrupt. So I'm helping out :)

I'll be giving him the buy back option if he wants it......I'm giving more for them than a pawn shop would ;)

I test drove an '09 Jetta TDI today and I loved it. It has the dual cluth 6 speed automatic (I want a manual, Dallas isn't having any of that though) with 99K miles on it and they're asking $11.5K. I've seen some complaints about that tranny being a pain in stop and go traffic but I drove it in the middle of rush hour and I didn't have any lurching problems at all. The car is two owner, has all the service records available and it is in pretty damn awesome shape, I would've guessed it had 20K or so miles on it based on the interior, exterior and undercarriage.

I've been reading a whole lot about the reliability of the newer TDI engines and most people say if you keep up on the maintenance that there shouldn't be any issues at all. I'm going back tomorrow to talk numbers but I really think I might come home with this thing...

Just FYI, you need to change the DSG oil every 40k miles and fluid alone is around $250. To make matters worse, there is no "fill" port.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I drive over 600 miles a week so I will really enjoy the 40mpg and I don't have a problem spending a few hundred bucks every 40K miles to make sure the tranny is in good shape.
