Fogger water-meth nozzles

Postby Begle1 » Mon May 05, 2008 2:51 pm

Has anybody ever used these critters before?

The concept is that the water hits the little wire at 100-1000 PSI in order to aid atomization. 1000 PSI max (which is good if I ever get a real pump), 450 degree max (which is kind of scary, assuming the first thing that melts off is the little wire), and made of brass. $22 a piece from McMaster Carr...

From left to right we have a 6.6GPH@100PSI, a 12.60GPH@100PSI and a 26.40GPH@100PSI.

Do I run them?

what do you mean by 450 degree max? i've never heard or seen of nozzles like that but the concept seems like a good idea as long as nothing melts.

Begle, it seems to me that 450 should be an ok temp range for the intake. Seems to me that the highest intake air temps that I've seen were in the 300-350 degree range. My .02. Plus, you'll have the (relatively) cold water/meth mix spraying on that wire, the cooling effect that the water/meth has on the air should help the little wire live too.

So, you thread those into the inside of your intake? I can see how they would aid atomization though, neat little deals.

they actually look like you'll need to put in a double sided female coupler and put the nozzle on the inside of the intake and screw in your water/meth line from the outside of the female connector. just a thought. even a female.male connector would work too just need a female end on the water line.

Can you put a quarter next to one and take a picture? I'm having a hard time telling exactly how big those are

They seem really large...

Here's what I did.

I picked up three NPT male-male couplers, and tapped one side on each one. Then I filed off the points on the hex heads on the nozzles.

Then I drilled and tapped them into the head.

That's a temp sender on the back.

Next time take better advantage of the taper of NPT taps in order to better sink the nozzle holders... :?

Those look pretty sweet man. hopefully they work. make sure you keep us informed on the progress of how they work.

Looks good, that helps me with the size thing. For some reason I had it stuck in my head that they were bigger than that. I kept thinking to myself, "they can't be that big"

Do you think that will affect air flow very much?

I'm sure the benefits of the water will outweigh the loss of airflow.

I'm not planning on keeping that intake horn for very much longer anyways...

If it's too bad I could retap holes in the back and put blank covers in the front. I could use the covers to make sure the nozzles are all spraying.
