Hello all, i just joined up and am wanting to talk about my current project and see what idea's and advice i get from y'all.
Oh and btw, sixfourgal doesn't mean i'm a female born in 64, it stands for my current project car, a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 2d sedan.
The original engine is gone, and a ford 302 is sitting in the bay atm, however i have much more sinister ideas about a powertrain, i have always loved diesel's not only for the sounds, soot, and mpg, but also for the massive amounts of torque they can produce, and seeing how they can move a 7500lb truck, i figure the right set up in a 4-5000lb car would be even more impressive.
One of the biggest reasons i am looking at a 1st gen 6bt, is how easy it is to get some respectable numbers out of a stock engine, that and as my sig says, i have always felt that being diff isn't a bad thing, too many friends of mine are into, tunner, mustangs, anything on petrol. Its time they see what a proper diesel can do, and well my platform, that is another thing to be diff, i was inspired the first time i saw the youtube vid of a 1971 monte carlo with a 6bt, and this got me thinking, WHY NOT
Why more people aren't looking to get the power, reliablility, and the mpg of a diesel has baffeled me. My Gal currently sits just waiting on me to find a sutiable drive train, and i just might have found it, a 91 cummins 2wd with a 5spd that rolled, engine is still good... Jackpot, will get pics and continue to update everyone as things progress.
