Leaf spring eye bushing source?

Postby dpuckett » Thu Jul 15, 2010 8:18 pm

Just like the title says- where can I get some? I got a set of used leaf springs that had obviously seen a much easier life than the ones on my pickup, and I figure while I have it all apart, I may as well install new bushings. BUT, I havent been able to find any at the local parts stores. I dont especially want poly bushings, plain rubber lasted 15 years, and is good enough for who it's for (though i'm not adamantly opposed to poly bushings). I dont have the patience to wade through the Google, et al, search engine results (you know, the ones that have one word of your search, whether it's related to the entire search string or not), so if you know of any offhand, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I got my spring eye bolts from my local ( 1 hour away ) heavy truck spring shop. They are the only ones that could look it up. ( never called the dealer ). Might be worth a try if you have a spring shop around.

The rear eye bolts are 5/8" x 4" or 4 3/8" long

I just installed a lift on my Truck and had to replace the rear shackles and bolts.

Sorry about that, I just visited rockauto's website and entered the trucks particulars, they can supply them and cheap.

Visit the site and check it out.

I know I was just saying to try a spring shop. :D TRW suspension parts also had most spring eye bushings. Thats the brand I sold when I worked at a parts store. Not sure if they made them for dodge trucks but I remember the book was real thick.

I looked online, and they had a slew of options available, and as luck would have it, I need 3 different sizes. Fronts are 1/2IDx 1OD; rear fronts are 5/8x 1-1/4; rear rears are 3/4x 1-1/2.

The bolts themselves are reusable, right? As long as I dont have to heat them and they dont twist? If I have to get new ones, what grade should I go with? 8? 10? Something else?

If you need new bolts I think you will find there is only 1 choice.
