Yes. TXS knows more, and can tell you what's needed. I'm sure he'll chime in when he gets on, might be a few days though.

I'm not TXS but there is a lot of diff in both transmissions. The main diff is the housings. The housing of the o/d unit of the 47re does not have the machined spot for the hyd gov. Shift timing is controlled by the computer. The output shaft will not work. I do not think the main case will work either. The valve bodies will no work. As far as pump, bands and clutch assemblies will interchange. I think even the stuff in the o/d unit, all but output shaft, will work. But beware all are not the same some have more fictions and steels in them so stick to the heavy stuff. Or u will end up with one with light duty planets and u will be ridin on borrowed time with it.

Jeez, I thought they were more alike than that. I knew the VB were different, but the shafts and housings too? I'm pretty sure somebody else asked that question and that it could be done easier. If not, sorrrry!

I was just sayin. I am not a 100% shure about the case. But I do know for a fact that o/d unit case on the re has no place for the rh gov. I've only just started to look into the diff between the two and really have just started building the dodge transmissions. Only way that I am now is because I got fed up with pullin them back out and having the turd trany shop that I was dealin with do it again. I've been buildin them for only a few years now and I really still am new to them. What I listed out are the major diffs that I have seen. No disrespect mr toombs. Like I said I'm not txs

To convert a 47re to a 47rh you need an rh overdrive unit, if all you can find is a gasser version you need to swap in the brass governor weights, the OD and direct clutch retainer (holds more discs) and the diesel planetary gears, the housing and the output shaft were the same in the diesels and gassers. On the back of the main case there is OD piston retainer, you need the rh version which has the 2 holes for the governor pressure tubes, this does not have to be from diesel tranny. If you can find a 47rh valve body use that, if you can't find one use any gasser OD tranny with L/U and switch out the little shift valve springs under the various little covers on the valve body. use the re valve body selenoid pack on the rh valve body, you just have to figure out which 3 out of the 8 pins control the od and L/U. the reason for that is the electrical plug increased in diameter where it goes through the case when they went to 8 pins for the re series.
93 w250 6 speed 4" exhaust, caution, work truck, she's no beauty. building 1 ton dually 4x4, dana 80, 48rh, 205 Scratch the one ton, bought frt. dually 4x4 98 12 valve with the tiny rear doors. rides so much better than the 93.
