Can AC compressor be moved back a little? Belt problem

Postby Diesel » Sat Jul 02, 2011 2:12 pm

So my belt is getting cut by the AC compressor pulley because the compressor pulley is too forward. Can the compressor or the pulley be moved back?

Don't know the exact routing, but make sure an idler or tensioner isn't going bad and making the belt track outward. If I remember right, the compressors are bolted straight to their bracket.

Compressor is mounted into the bracket on the block, its either the tensioner right above it, the fan assembly (4 10mm bolts behind the fan) or the crank pulley could be loose and coming off (4 15mm bolts), check the alternator pulley too

It's so weird how the pulley sticks out on the ac and thus cuts the sthi out of the belt. I'm tempted to just buy a belt with fewer ribs and run that.

how many ribs is yours running, and is the compressor a new one, or has it been doing this

I'm running the stock belt. The compressor came on it and the original belt was also torn. Could I have the wrong compressor?
