I was out back looking at an old cletrac DD dozer that I have and started thinking whether or not I could stick a 5.9 in there. The diesel that was in it came on a pallet in parts and pieces, and rebuilding what I actually have of it would cost more then its worth. I'd be better off just buying a 50 years newer machine. I understand that to put the cummins in it I would have to machine a backing plate and figure out the clutch issues along with a way to drive the front mounted hydraulic pump. There is beyond enough room for the motor. My main concern is rpms and over powering it. The original motor was rated at 45-68hp depending upon where you read it from. RPM's on the original was rated at 1300. Whats your guys thoughts? Worth playing with? Anyone ever done it?
Thanks,
- Tom
