Why not pull the hotpipe off and and just make a quick check?

I had both my fans running through a 40 amp, 4 blade relay, just to get me around until I decide on a decent wiring layout. Turns out those fans are pretty nasty, because they melted that relay down in 3 days.

Guess I'll have to get a couple of 70 amps, just to be safe.

Hineman, if my bosses call you tomorrow I need you to tell them you were in front of the shop at work last night.

On a completely unrelated note, I decided to do some leak-fixing and pulled off my vacuum pump for a reseal. A thank you goes out to SOOT4BRAINS for his writeup over on DTR. I ended up leaving my PS pump in the bay, but only because I'm lazy. Got that finished up with no hiccups, and figured I hadn't suffered enough yet.

Time to fix that primary drain.

Not a huge deal, but it took some fang-dangling to get it back together. Put some tools away while I let the RTV dry, then fire it up and back it outside. I fire up Facebook to talk some smack about my buddies new goat(It's as bad as it sounds), and as I finish the message I see this river of oil flowing out from under my truck. Doh!! Totally forgot to put the secondary drain back on.

Threw it back on, and as far as I know everything's ok now. It's too dark to see, so I just told myself that I not only fixed those two leaks, but also the front main leak as well.

What a productive night. 8)

Well, I would but I had to back through some wet grass so I used up the last bit of life in my front U-joints.

I also swapped my extremely questionable front tire to one of the backs, so no more horrible vibrations. Dunno if it got a bad spot in it from sitting or what, but it didn't do that when I parked it. :?

Ehhhh, I highly doubt they will be.

Let's face it, when people pull the stock fan off their trucks, they're seeing anywhere from a 20-50 horse increase in power. Fan technology may have come along way, but I just don't see how you're going to get 20hp worth of work from a set of electric fans. :? Hell, a 10hp, 12v electric motor is probably as big as the fans themselves.

You'll free up some power, but to be honest I figure you'll find better cooling gains from an aftermarket or custom radiator.

Most fans are rated in cfm's. If you pair some that are the same cfm as your mech.fan is rated then there's no reason it wouldn't cool as well.

Doesn't make any sense to me, but I guess that's why I'm not a fan engineer.

It was worth it to me just to get some working room around the front of the engine.

Shoot, I'm not either

All I've ever bought was aftermarket fans and that was how they listed them out to me. They also listed them out for how many HP the fan would cool, idk how they figure that one

I don't know how much the mechanical fans move, but like I said if they're sucking up that much horsepower then it can't be a small amount.

My two Taurus fans nuked a 40 amp relay when they were both on high, so they apparently put out some work too.

In other news I decided to unhook my wastegates completely and cruise around to see what would happen. The S300 is just singing it's heart out now, with the S400 barely making a peep, even on an extremely hard run. Boost at 65 is up to 8-10psi from 2psi. Apparently my external 'gate was opening as soon as I got boost and just 'gating everything to the S400.

I've got an adjustable electronic pressure switch and valve I'm going to use to control them, I just have to stop driving it around and put them on. I'm kind of scared to park it again, it has this bad habit of getting stuck in the garage. I put new u-joints in the frontend, so hopefully it can crawl it's way out.
