I just found the thread on CompD about how to seal up a V-band, so I just did them all. 8)

Stuffed it full of RTV, wrapped it with some foil, and rewrapped it with the fireplace door sealer stuff. Anything to keep from having to take it down.

Didn't bother checking it, too busy drinking beer. ;)

Whipped a quick run down the road to get my fourwheeler. Didn't catch any smoke out of the vents, so that must mean the aluminum foil sealed it, right? :P

Still pegs at 30psi, but since I've got a 5 hour road trip ahead of me tomorrow I don't see the harm in cranking the boost up to 40+ just in case. 8)

Just got back from a 500 mile trip. I forgot to crank the boost up, but the foil must have held because that S400 was singing as loud as I've ever heard it today. I'm going to pull the compressor cover off of it tomorrow and see if it's leaking there somehow. There's really not many other places it can be leaking, there's nothing else there but a silicone 90* and I know it's tight.

Managed to pull 19.5mpg going off the GPS mileage. I coulda broke 20 easily but I did at least 70 the whole time we were on the highways. Good trip, and I got to ruin the extremely nice driveways of 2 complete strangers by dripping oil all over them. I bet they'll probably both get kicked out of their suburbs by the homeowners committee.

Oh, and here's a pic of my new boost controller setup:
Image

It's an adjustable pressure switch from Napa and a 12v spool valve. I just turn the switch to wherever I want and it opens the valve and dumps the boost to the external 'gate. I don't even have the internal 'gate hooked up anymore. It seems to be working great, as boost comes up fast and when it gets to where I set it it stops right then.

I do intend to relocate it and clean everything up, but I wanted to get some testing in with it before I went through all the trouble.

I might have to steal this idea for limiting my hx on my truck . What boost can it go up to?

I don't have the part number on this phone, but I'll grab it when I get home. There's more than one switch, and they deal with different pressure ranges.

Also, so I don't get anymore tear-filled texts, the switch was Hineman's find. I'm a filthy copycat.

I've got to grab a shower and some food, but before I do here's a post I found on some Mustang forum:

napa has them..here are some of the part numbers...701-1603,701-1605,701-1575,701-1576,701-1608,701-1609,701-1577,701-1578,701-1604,701-1606 nd dual circuit p/n's 701-1591,701-1592, nd 701-1607....you can go on napa online to check the psi nd factory set point...just remember if you do..just type in "bk" before every part number..or just go into your local napa store with these part numbers nd someone should be compitant enough to help you

Mine is "BK 7011604" They apparently are good a little past their limits, but I wouldn't expect them to be as accurate there.

Here's the stats on my switch:
Attributes:
Circuitry Type : Normally Open
Connection Size : 1/8"-27 NPT Male Thread
Contact Setting : 51 - 90 psi (+/- 7)
Contents : Switch, (2) Screws
Factory Setting : 60 psi
Manufacturer : Honeywell Hobbs
Manufacturer Part Number : 76054-60
Material : Plated Steel Base / Polyimide Film Diaphram / Silver Alloy Gold Plated Contacts
Pressure Rating : 250 psi Operating (500 psi Proof)
Series : 5000 Series
Specifications : Single Circuit, 2-Terminals
Temperature Range : -40 - 250 Deg F
Terminal Type : #8-32 Screw Terminals

It is repeatably accurate to 25 psi at least, as that's as low as I've had it. I've checked it with a regulator with a gauge on it.

Sooo, after my road trip, I'm looking into some more sound-deadening stuff to put in the truck. Anybody have any idea roughly how many sq.ft. of surface area there is in our cabs counting the roof, rear of the cab, and both door panels?

I'm considering doing the firewall as well, but I've never had a dash out of our trucks before so I'm gonna have to check around and see if there's a writeup anywhere dealing with it...

I don't know.. I wouldn't add sound deadening because of rust issues. The dodge cab isn't very good at keeping the water out.

I put bedliner down on the entire floor of my cab, so I'm not too worried about it holding water there. Maybe if it starts smelling like mildew or something, but not so much rust.

Dazed, I would really appreciate that! It doesn't have to be too exact, just a rough guess would be great.

H&W door exterior sheet metal 31x42"
H&W door Int trim panel 27x34"
H&W kick panel/outer sides 14x15"
Width of floor 80"
Distance from backwall to firewall 66"

This is for a reg cab.

I took these measurements to use this sound deadener system:

Haven't installed it yet though.

Much appreciated, BILTIT. I will convert those to sq.ft. after I get back in tonight. I would have done it last night, but I spent 2 hours trying to figure out why I couldn't divide the answer by 12 and get a decent looking number. On the way to work this morning, I was hit with the thought that maybe I had to divide the numbers before I multiplied them together.

They make much more sense that way.

Stupid math.

Testing out the quick reply, thanks Swank, and reporting that my mathematical failures will have to wait another night.

Still haven't got around to converting those, but I swear I will.

Anyways, I'm tired of the black spots all over my paint and the eternal black wheel, so I ran my exhaust out behind the tire. I like it, and the truck is even quieter in the cab now, but I'd say I'll be cutting the chrome section in half. It's a little bit too long for me.

I also glanced down on the way home and noticed my volt gauge was pegged out. Popped the hood, and the battery was boiling.

We'll see what's going on there in the morning.
