No start

Postby needlenose » Tue Nov 26, 2024 9:34 am

My truck shutdown while driving it yesterday. It acted just like a no lift pump. Barely ran, would only idle, white smoking. I let it sit and called for backup. I checked the fuel filter drain and it seemed like there was air in it, but eventually fuel started coming out. I got back in and it lit and ran fine; made great power. I took off for home and it only made it about 2 miles and died again. It hasn't started since.

I can get fuel spray from each injector by cracking the nut. The pump was rebuilt by Eric at Hungry Diesel about 5K miles ago and has brand new 5x13s. I also upgraded to a hi-vol lift pump with a low pressure spring.

I wouldn't think it would run fine for a few miles of the lift pump was dead. It seems like a fuel blockage, except that I have fuel at the injectors.

Any ideas?

I love my pull cable.
