4x4 Dually Rotor to bub bolts

Postby ahale2772 » Fri Apr 27, 2012 12:38 pm

ssoooo....

finally have started to throw dually hubs on my truck (up front), looks like I can reuse my old rotors (allready 1ton rotors), they have about 1.5 inches of rotor thickness (parts store guy says the most popular rotors are 2 inches thick)... yet the distance from the rotor to the inner bearing race is the same, so im reusing my old rotors.

anyways... long story short, hub needs 8 14mm bolts (best fitting bolt I could find), that go thru the rotor 5/8 hole (about 17.8 mm)...

so I need 16 bolts, that are 14mm coarse thread, with a 5/8 shank, only about 1inch long....

anyone have these bolts? or know where I can get some? Dodge told me to pound sand, napa has no clue...

Do you have the selectro hubs?

I didn't know the duallys used selectros....ever. Maybe drill and tap to 3/8" coarse?

not talking about the locking hubs, talking about the bolts that bolt the brake rotor to the actual hub, the big ugly spinny thing with bearing in it lol

I do know on the 2wd 350 rotors the stud hole is smaller. Im going to bet its the same on the 4x4 because i would have to dtill the holes out to make the 250 studs fit. Mine have 1/2" x13 npt bolts 1&1/2" long with a lock washer.

thanks Andy...

so the 2wd hubs have 1/2 bolts... interesting, tried a 9/16 bolt in my 4x4 hubs and they fit perfect, still weary about the fact that its a 9/16 bolt in a hole that is about 18mm... almost 13/16 with no shank.

anyways, guess ill just use lock washers and call it good, thanks

I bet the rotors are different if the bolt is loose in the hole. I know the 2wd id different then a 250 rotor.

You might have better luck using a Chevrolet application to source the bolts new.
Go with a 1985 1 ton Dually app.
They ARE 9/16s Standard thread, BTW.

so the biggest thing im confused about is.... what rotors should I buy for this application? Napa says there is two options, either a rotor that is 1.5 inch thich (same thickness as the 1ton rotors on there now) or a 2 inch thick rotor.... Napa guy says the 2 inch thick rotor is the popular option.

next.... will a dually rotor have 9/16 holes where it is bolted to the hub? or still have the big 17.8 ish mm holes?

im lost on what I should do...

essentially im converting a srw 1ton front end to a drw 1ton front end... Mark, I allready bought these hubs from you, IDK what year truck they are from, and what calipers, rotors, and caliper brackets they would use..

DRW rotors have smaller bolt holes than SRW rotors. Iirc they are however both the same thickness. If this continues to be a problem Pm me and I may be able to come up with a Bendix number for you.

I think the Napa guy is a little confused. Both the chevy dana 60 front and the 90-93 dodge dana 60 front use the same exact hub and 1.5" thick rotor. The 76-89 dodge uses a different hub and a 1.25" thick rotor. You can use your calipers, brackets, ect from your srw truck. They are the same as on a DRW truck.
