So Mark, will the gas 1ton W350 frame have the holes for the engine or will that have to be drilled? And will the gas cross member work with my diesel?

Yes, IF it's '88 and newer.

Mark,
Lemme know if you have the diesel 4wd crossmember I would need to use with the gas frame. I'd rather get it from a friend on the forum than source it locally (if possible). If you got one PM me a price and let me add it to the list of things. I think everything else I need will be pulled off the gas truck if I add 4wd to my frame OR can be pulled from my frame if I use the gas frame.

They are the same crossmember if the frame heights are equal and it's the same era ('88-'93).
There ARE 2 different crossmembers in '88-'93, the "tall" frame one has an extra riser riveted to it, making it look like a double crossmember.

With gassers and diesels the only things that MIGHT are the pieces between the trans and the crossmembers on 4x4s. The "mounting isolator system" if you will.
It's the height of the rails that matters, which makes a tall and short frame crossmember different.

I realize you want to do the 1991-1/2 D-250 (short) frame to 4x4, so if the donor is a tall frame truck, you'll have the right crossmember, just buzz the rivets off and remove the riser.

Cool. Sounds like I just need to get my hands on a donor and get it done. I am guessing that this truck should be good for me too: http://lancaster.craigslist.org/cto/3057947261.html

Diesel the gasser 4x4 crossmember work's just fine what I did on my last truck was take the driver's side mount hole and make it just a tad longer then the motor dropped right into place with no troubles . as for the gasser spring's just take a couple leaf's and add to them on the bottom yes you will have to change center bolt but that's simple also .Where are you located at ?

If i were to do it again i would swap the frame. Easy to clean up and fix up.

But, instead of that i would buy a rust free 4x4 complete, not as easy for me since i don't live in the US.
