Bout that time again... Aluminum polish

Postby Hansen01 » Sun Nov 11, 2012 8:12 pm

Well its about time to polish my wheels again, need some opinions on some good polish to help speed up this slow process, anyone have any opinions?
Also one helpfull trick when trying to shine them that i have found is,buy a bag of flower and rub all the black gunk off with that, it attracts it very well and keeps it from going back into the aluminum.

I usually use a mild aluminum brightener to take the oxidation off. Polish up MUCH faster that way.

If they are pretty rough, you'll need to cut them pretty good. I used this in a 32oz bottle- http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/e ... D0K8BC31gv)&rt=d

Then, use Pro40 aluminum polish with a buffing wheel on a drill. Like this- https://www.zephyrpro40.com/s2/Scripts/ ... roduct=470 OR, this- https://www.zephyrpro40.com/s2/Scripts/ ... roduct=471

In my opinion, if they have been cared for at all in their life, just cutting them with the brightener does wonders. But, I don't buy into the shiny stuff fad

Acid wash them and use the three step rouge bar system with a nice buffer.

Use this

Craps some kinda good,I use it on my wheels and reapply once a year. trick to keeping them shinny, don't use degreaser or any thing like it on your wheels, save them till last when washing your truck and use the soap and water for the paint on your wheels.

Keep in mind though, that aluminum brighteners can dull the wheels, if they are polished up nice and the brightener is too strong. Even burn them white.

Oh that is as "clean" as they get,I've got so many cracks in the skin on my hands that it takes a finger nail brush to get them clean. That gets done Sunday morning before church, along with my second shave of the week. I hate shaving, especially neck, pull and burn
