Wheel studs- 2wd specific

Postby cmann250 » Sun Dec 16, 2012 7:52 pm

I scored some Ford Alcoas the other day and I need to upgrade studs. The fronts are too short, no way around it for me to feel safe. I'm stepping up to 9/16" for S's and G's. I have the proper 9/16"nuts already. Thanks to Ike, I found some rear studs that will work for the rear. http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Catal ... 0331691176

Since I have a 2wd, my front rotors are different. 4wd studs are supposed to be .651" knurl diameter and 2wd are supposed to be .723".

I found these, but .050" too small makes me nervous. http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Catal ... 0331694670

Every thread I find of 9/16" studs is for a 4wd. Thoughts here?

You read me like a book. I can't believe you don't like those rims you have now.

16"s all the way for me and that's exactly why. And I'm cheap. I'm going to try the lug that I suspect will work (just 1 or 2) and report back.

Been working on my own story with Alcoa's cept mine came from a Chevy. I'm going to stick with the regualr 5/8" studs and there are a few places to get swivel lugs for these instead of the fixed flanged lugs. I'm not sure where to help you when it comes to the 9/16" studs...let us know how the studs work out for you

I did some figuring and the stud conversion is going to be alot of money. And I'm cheap. For the fronts (16x $9)=$144 plus the rears (16x $3.60)= $57.60 for a total of $201.60. Umm, no. Hey RumbleFish......

Just kidding :P I found these: http://www.fastwheelaccessories.com/ext ... en-end-et/
I'll give them a shot. That extended thread makes me feel better and I won't have to press 32 studs out and 32 studs back in.

I box from Summit showed up today. Depending on weather and work, I may get some tires switched around and have some truck porn to share.

Crappy paint, enough smoke enduced POWA to get in trouble, and shiny rims. That my friends is a recipe for...

I missed out on a $700 CTD truck 2 hours north of me, but I did slap those rims on and greased my brakes while I was in there today. The front end needs work.

I'll try to remember to get pics tomorrow. I think they look great :D

8) Amazing what wheels can do for a truck. I'd lower the rear and throw on my air bags I have in storage if it was mine. :D

Yea I'm really digging the wheels. I wish I'd gotten serious about finding them earlier. Funny thing... I have a line on a roller (when the owner finds a Super Duty to stick his 12v in) that has rear bags AND I know of where a Kelderman is. If I keep stumbling into air bags, I may just have to stick some in. I'm surely not against it 8)

I can (and do) live without those Ferd things on my trucks.
Though the Ferd DUALLY Alcoas are nice looking.

Mark.
