lowering advice

Postby jorez » Tue Mar 20, 2012 12:08 pm

I do not have the knowledge and mechanical apptitude to install Van lower control arms and make them fit...but I can get springs and hangers and do it myself..so my question is...what is the better, most cost effective way to lower a 91 D150 a few inches..it sits up too high..wife has an issue getting into it..I was thinking of some early S10 lowering springs and a rear shackle thing drop. Should drop about 2-3 inches all the way around, then sell the 22's and get some 15's.
Thanks!

Well you can cut half a coil off the spring and drop shackles in the rear. Mine has D250 lower control arms and wore out Cummins springs. It also has 2.5" drop shackles in the rear.

Nice stance, I've been ready to weld up some long shackles to drop the dually I'm getting. Maybe seeing what I can do to get some custom front coils made. :thumbs up:

I have a 89 D150 I want to lower. I have found a forum that shows swapping out the LCA for van LCA and cutting a spring.
That is too much for my knowledge anyone have an easier way (not a short cut) lol.

Show or send me any pic you have of your truck in transition.

Nice stance dazed.
I'm not too far from you send me a private message. Maybe I can stop by and check out what you did.

The front of mine is pretty much stock wore out 3/4 ton stuff. The Cummins pushes her down nice. Here is a link to my build thread.
