Engine cutting out

Postby Arnold Layne » Thu Jun 20, 2013 9:25 am

Took off with the '90 yesterday, went about 1/4 of a mile and it skipped real quick like you flashed the switch off and back on, wasn't really sure if I did it with the throttle or not. Drove about 6 miles and shut it off for a couple hours. Took off and it did it again after about 3 blocks, just off and back on real quick, went another 1/2 mile or so, got to the edge of town, got on it a little in 4th and it goes dead, no miss, no sputter, nothing, just like you turned the switch off. I stayed off the pedal for a few seconds while it slowed down, stepped back into it and it's awake again like nothing happened. Drove it like I had just stolen it the rest of the way home and it didn't miss a beat. Does that sound like an FSS or electric gremlin wanting to make an appearance? Thanks

Had the same thing happen to me. FSS female connector wouldn't stay on the male terminal, it fell off it was so loose. Roadside fix, bent the little tab at the end of the female terminal. Got me home. NAPA has the right style terminal.
