no oil pressure

Postby gobcumminstruck » Sat Aug 31, 2013 4:23 am

i was driving home last night, from work and oil gauge went to zero and light came on. i heard a noise and pull over to side off road. and the noise came from rt side of truck toke pipe of turbo and it was it. i limp it about 5 miles back to work.i put an mechanical gauge on oil filter houseing and find i had no oil pressure. its an early 1991 w250 non intercooled engine. and the truck has close to 600,000 miles on it i dont know for sure the excet miles, cause the odometer has work since i bought the truck and dont know how long it hasn't work. what could be my problem?

If the turbo failed it may have dumped all the oil out of the engine. Either thru the tailpipe or it went thru and burned it.

i check the oil stick and it has the right amount. i check it wend i got to work and let it sit and check againt it had more in it, meaning it was pass the full mark and it was black to, no fun color oil,and coolant full to. no coolant loss and coolant not different color.

I am suprised you made it 5 miles with no oil pressure. Are you sure you used a working gauge? You could pull a valve cover and fire it up and see if the oil flies or not.

Well, I am stumped lol. I know my oil pressure gauge quit working on my D250 a few years ago. Shut it off and pulled over and pulled a valve cover and started it, and oil went flying everywhere, so it was just my gauge.

I have an engine that did that and the kdp took out the oil pump idler. I think the first place to go is to that front cover and remove it.....

Junk it? Damn that sucks :yuck:

I bought a used oil pump off of Ebay for 35$,the rebuild for the turbo should be less than 150$ (if you need a turbin shaft I can hook you up) as far as the bypass if its stuck in....who cares, cap that baby back off and forget about it (it's stuck closed right? )

Change turbo or repair turbo. By doing so your problem may be fixed
