Yeah he might need to do some maintenance.....glow plugs don't last forever.

I think it's tit for tat on vehicles. All have obvious faults, some just aren't worth a damn. I think everyone just likes to pick favorites and play games. Me I find one that I like and ride. Not so long ago (before I pulled my head out of my own a$$ ) I use to be a solely Chevy guy. If it wasn't a Chevy it was schit, then I had to buy what I could find and wound up buying a ford. It was a pretty gpod truck,it was just weak. Sickening so,but it was comfortable and all I used it for was carrying my but to and from school and work. After school I bought a Toyota Tacoma and I loved that truck,it did everything anyone could ask of it but take a hit from a pine. Then enter that 2002 Chevy, awesome truck till 230k,never did anything to it but maintenance, then all of a sudden it started getting 14mpgs. Screw that, time for it to go. All along tho.....there set the dodge  steady and strong,no way to go wrong if you started for it. It has yet to leave me anywhere stranded nor fail to do what I ask. I aint saying I haven't worked on it,I'm just saying it's been a damn tough truck ;)

Now if it dies on the ride home I have no reason to bitch.

A fireplace is definitely nice. If your heating your house solely by burning wood you're in for a lot of cold nights. If you load it too much you'll end up opening windows

So I'm prepping for the snow that's coming in earlier and dad comes out. He looks at me and says how come yours is bigger. I just looked at him, shook my head and laughed as I walked away. I don't think he ever figures out why either

Does anyone know if I have to have filter extensions when running a deep trans pan?

If your putting on on a 727 or 518 you can just run a 618(late model) filter. They are thicker

I get the privelige of changing my timing belt tomorrow. Friggin thing broke on the drive to work this morning. Engine just died, never made a sound. Thank goodness for non-interference engines.

Captain GM Hater checking in. I'm sure that back in the C/K series days there were good trucks. I'd so run a K20 with a 454, D60/14bolt, and a 5 speed of some sort if I didn't care about guzzling gas.

I think all truck manufacturers went to hell when they got rid of serviceable front wheel bearings. Ford in '97, Dodge in '93, and GM in '87ish (?).

Yeah them non interference engines are great aren't they

I just found out today my 4th gens cp3 puts out 87.5 % of what any 5.9 cummins or duramax cp3 puts out. So I'm like wtf now I want an older cp3. Then again I kind of want to do dual stroker pumps since I love being overkill all the time

Fine, you win

I got that Allison project wrapped up today by zip-tying transfer case on the back of it and doing all the associated wrap-up song and dance. I'm grateful for the experience and I wouldn't have done it if it didn't belong to my good friend, but I don't really want to see another for a long time. I have to find a Ford to tear into next.

Andy, we didn't have to reflash it. This was a 5 speed version in an '05.

I talked to the guy that built the Ally for a while and was kind of disappointed. He's just a SunCoast parts changer. He'd never heard of running hydraulic fluid in a Dodge trans, even though Dodge transmissions are his bread and butter.

And at the end of the day a built Allison shifts pretty decent.

Speaking on tranny work, I just tore into a rag and took apart the mainshaft and man was it bad.
Sat outside for a while and I guess all the oil had been drained prior to that. Seemed like everything took twice as long to pull apart and im having to polish each item cause almost everything has some sort of cancer on it. And yes, I even had to disassemble the hub assemblies to clean them and then put the tabs, springs and balls back in.
