Anybody from the Black hills??

Postby MMiller » Mon Jun 08, 2009 8:32 pm

My wife and I are trying to plan a trip to the Black hills later this month. We are looking for a good place to stay in a few nights that has kitchen, sleeping for our family of four(12 and 6), and another couple. Bonus would be a place to do a little fishing/hiking/etc while resting.

We are going to do the typical Mt Rushmore, Black Hills, Bad Lands, Wall Drug and such. Looking for a nice, but economical place to stay that would be this area of the state. Not so much a hotel, but more like a cabin or something similar.

Got any tips, or suggestions of places to stay? We do not have a camper, nor will we be staying in a tent on this trip.

That is a really nice little family vacation-type thing. Did it 2 years ago. Don't skip the caves. We stayed at some some hole-in-wall motel, but saw what looked like a real nice bread and breakfast place just west of Custer. It was a few miles west of town on 16, IIRC. Will try to get in there next time, I forget the name, but looked real nice. The kids would love the hot springs amusement park in... you guessed it - Hot Springs. Plan at least a full afternoon there for the kids. Great stuff.
