6 inch suspension lift kit

Postby Chuck J » Thu Oct 28, 2010 9:51 pm

Who has the 6 inch lift kit that came with rear blocks instead of new rear springs? I would like to know if it came with a replacement block on each side of the rear or an a block in conjunction with the factory block. If it came with a block to go with the stock block, how tall is the block that came with the kit? Was it 5.5 inches?

general rule of thumb in suspension lifts, do not stack blocks on the rear axle, do not use blocks on the front axle.

I doubt there was ever a kit made to stack a block on top of the factory 6 inch block that is standard issue. I have seen them with arched springs sitting on the factory 6 " block only. Ya keep piling blocks your gonna wrap something and it ain't gonna be christmas gifts.

Well, I called Alcan Spring Co. and ordered 8 inch softride front springs to handle the load of the Cummins and an extra 200 lbs for the bumper and winch. After I get those on the truck, I'm to get the truck frames level, put the rear axle under the truck with the billet aluminum block I want to use along with a shackle reversal kit installed, then measure spring eye to spring eye on the rear spring mounts down to the top of the aluminum block. These will be the measurements for the rear springs. I'll take photo's and post them as soon as get it Rollin. In process of relocating.

Ive been building rock crawlers for over 10 years now, and i say leave the leaf springs and the blocks in the past! Its all about coil springs and links these days, trust me your back will thank you later!!! Plus you are more versatile with coils and links.

Yeah, and track bars are so much fun when they wear out!

Dont need a track bar if you have a triangulated 4 bar set up

Uhhhh, ok! :? Way over my head, I'm just a simple leaf spring guy myself. The front end on my 97 has caused me enough grief that I don't wanna know nothing no more! ;)

Track bars can be a serious PITA wifes jeep has one and every so often it gets a really bad death wobble, think its when the bushings get loaded funny. I am going to build a heim joint track bar for it to be rid of those rubber bushings

I got Alcan to build me a set of springs for my 93 w350. I got 4inch lift springs in front and 6 inch in back. I took out the factory blocks and did the shackle flip in the back. U can get about whatever u want out of the flip if u build the hanger. I had a parts truck so I got the front spring hangers off the rear of the truck to flip the shackles. Works sweet. They also made my springs to carry a bed and diesel welder to.
