Propane torch for weed/brush removal

Yeah operates on tank pressure with a needle valve fitting on the end of the handle. The kit I got from Rural King didn't include the striker. But who doesn't have one of those laying around. I tied a 20 pound propane tank to a 2 wheel dolly and wheeled it around the yard .

Another reason I want to move back out west- in 02, I didnt have to cut grass at all. Kept a constant eye out for a prairie fire, though.

I saw this and had to comment...My wife and I bought an abandoned milk farm (empty since 1964) It's been an adventure.

Hanging on the wall were a couple old antique weed burners... I have found a lot of uses for them. Weeds... wasp nests... drying concrete floors after cleaning the shop.... ice fishing (don't ask) and man do they work slick on ant hills. I even used it to clean my eaves on the shop. (wife had garden hose handy due to lack O trust)

you know i just got to thinking about this whole propain fire flame thrower.... this might just be worth putting a stack on my truck. I wonder if somehow I could put a Y pipe at the bottom of the stack and hook something like this up. I'd love to pull up next to a rice burner and throw a 10' flame out of a stack. To keep weeds killed I always found it best to use old motor oil.....(oh wait thats not legal.... but neither is a straight pipe)

Those are rather puny propant torches. Y'all need to source a hot air ballone engine. 50,000,000 btu Devil's Triangle for one. Stoich-coloured flame about 20' long and perhaps 3' wide will clean that fence right up... Just remember to feed it liquid off the bottom; they boil it in flame-directing coils and will not like being fed gass off the top of the tank( not to mention they'll cool the tank so far you won't get any delivery after a few seconds...heh-heh-heh.

Don't give him any ideas! He almost burned 1/2 the neighborhood down last time, and that was with the hand held cylinder!

I warned him not to break wind while he was using that thing!

if you had one of those big flame adapaters like they use at the dragstrip to remove rubber you could clear the fence line pretty quick . just make sure everythings out before you go inside. neighbors thinking your crazy and neighbors knowing your crazy because you burned down thier house while doing some yard maintenance is two totally different things

I had to laugh reading this, I almost did burn down the neighbors house burning weeds along the highway years ago! The $#@~!*& wind shifted 180 just after I got it going.

The propane weed-burners are ideal for clearing weeds that grow up through the cracks in concrete and black-top, and those gaps that eventually develop anywhere a block wall meets either concrete or black-top.

For fence-rows and such, about ten days prior to using the weed-burner, hit them with Pronto (TSC's version of Round-Up at about a fourth the cost); when the weeds are all dead and dried up, you will get a much better burn with a lot less smoke.

A little roundup with 2 four D really burns the weeds hard and quick, mix in a little
pursuit and they wll be dead for years.

What is this "pursuit" and where do I get it ??


Like dazedandconfused said, I also live in Kentucky, the rain, weed, mold, and humidity capitol of the world, and Round Up is only good for about one month.

I am currently using two quarts of Pronto (Round Up) per 25-gallons water.


For my 25-gallon spray-tank, what would be your recommended mix of each of the three ingredients; Round Up, 2-4-D, and pursuit ??

I've used Barren before to kill it all out. It works well but watch where you spray it because it will kill almost anything it touches.

We use pramitol and remedy down here, graze on if you have cattle or horses on it, but pramitol is some wicked stuff, dont get it on you, I think you have to have a chemical license to buy anything more than a gallon, at least down here
