installing goosneck hitch on my truck

I bought a atwood goosneck hide away hitch and. Was wondering were u are supposed to place it should it go in front of the axle or right in front of it
92 3/4 Cummins with coverted getrag 5 speed, 4x4 PODS,3200 Gov spring,16cm housing, 4inch exhuast homemade downpipe, water meth,hx35 turbo,5 inch stainless intake with AFE filter, fuel turned up, timing bumped boost,pyro guages, Denny T fuel pin,coolertubz,piston lift pump

I always mount hitches (ball or 5th wheel) 1 inch in front of the axle. Some swear by right above it. Get some opinions and make your own choice. ;)

Mine is just a little in front of the axle.

Thats my take as well. The whole point is to keep, or add, weight to the front axle, not take away like bumper tow does.

Mine is 1" in front of the axle and it does add weight to the front axle if installed that way. My truck has a wondering problem, I'm always having to correct it, and it goes away whenever the truck is hooked to a trailor.

i have been casually browsing for a hide a way gooseneck hitch. it is my understanding they don't make a kit for the first gens anymore. which kit can a guy make work for the truck? the second gen trucks?

I used a piece of 2 in x 6 in plate and welded the nut on the bottom so when i don't want the ball sticking up i use a pipe
wrench and take it out, yes it's a little trouble but it's alot cheaper than the others.
93 W250 STD CAB, AUTO 3.55, GAUGES, 80HP DDP STICKS, DENNY T ,16CM HOUSING, 60MM GILLETT, VE MAXED,BHAF, BHFF, 366 SPRING,P/S INTERCOOLER, TIMS COOLER TUBS, TIMMING 1/8 BUMP,4in TURBO BACK TO DUEL 5IN STACKS,33 12.50 BFG, HOLLEY BLACK, CONVERTER COOMING.
