255/85 r16 BFG km2's (a couple pictures)

Postby IrishChamp » Sat Jan 29, 2011 3:23 pm

I thought I would post up a couple pictures of my new wheels and tires. Wheels are Unique 297's tires are BFG km2's, they are right above 33 inches aired to 65 psi. they're an inch taller than the 33 inch toyos are. Yes the toyos are warn down but they are not under load, the bfg's are. These are smoother Especially over bumps, and quieter than the toyos with the same air pressure. Toyos may have been better when they were newer but putting on the km2's made a nice difference in ride quality.

i saw these in your sig, and they are going to be my choice when getting new tires in the next year or so. i like that they are narrower than a 285, but just as tall.

I'm really enjoying them, I like how they perform and their look fits the first gens IMO. I'll never go back to a 285.

I agree with you guys- the 75 series tires just dont look right on a 1stGen. The 235s took some getting used to after having 265/75s on my 93, but I prefer them now (plus, the 235s were $40 apiece cheaper).

my new wheels and tires were cheaper than just replacing the 285 toyos would have been.

Thanks for the compliment. I've not had these tires offroadone in the snow yet but I'm still liking them on the pavement.

How many miles do you have on 'em and how are they wearing? A buddy of mine has them on a small block suburban and they seem to be wearing decent, although he thinks it does his 350 doesn't have 650 lb ft eating on 'em. He definitely goes places off-road though, they dig.

You drive your pickup less than I drive mine ha. I might put 10k a year on mine, not like I need to worry much about tread wear I guess.

There are a few months in the summer where I put 2/3's of my miles on the truck but the rest of the year I put about 300-400/month. :) I guess that means I've not even put 1,500 miles on the tires, maybe 750 miles.
I've owned my truck two years and driven 16,000. The origional owner/last owner put 84,000 miles on the truck.

Thats the size I want to get, how much did you have to lift the front end to not rub? Also, are those wheels about the same offset as stock ones?

The reason I ask is cause I want to put them on the stock steel wheels, and im not lifted at all.

[Edit] just looked online at those unique wheels, seems like the only 16" in our lug pattern is 8" wide. I might have trouble squeezing those on stock wheels that are 5.5" wide IIRC.

I'm drawing a blank right now, I think my wheels are 7" wide. Tirerack says they fit on 6.5 to 8 inch wide rims.....

Is your truck lifted or leveled at all?

I just dont see buying 4 new 8lug wheels when I have 4 on there already that I know are rated to take the weight of the truck... I bet I could squeeze those on my wheels. I need to measure my rim width again at work one time with the thing for the tire balancer.
