No doubt, I have to write it out then go to the full editor anyways. Especially if I'm talking about Pete.

I found a pretty gigantic boost leak at my secondary outlet. I'll have to get home to find my smaller clamp, and I'll get a pic of my ghetto-ass leak tester while I'm there.

So, I sealed up the leak as far as I know. The garage here has a different air fitting than we use at work, so I'm gonna retest it tomorrow.

My smoke is down a huge amount, which is no surprise. Boost is still topping out at 30psi, since that is where I set the 'gate at.

Well, my plan was to put the tester on and take a picture of the couple of leaks I had. More on that plan in a second.

First thing that happened is I stuck the tester in my intake, tightened it down, cranked it up to 20psi, and it shot the tester out at me like a cannon. Whoops.

I sanded and cleaned my pipe up, clamped it down extra tight, and tried it again. At 15 psi I had a decent leak at the outlet boot of my aftercooler. ;). Cleaned it up, filed down a burr on the outlet, and tightened it back down. The cowbell, of course, was full of pinholes all over and there was one intake bolt with a leak.

I ignored the last two, cranked the tester up to 20psi, and it was like someone set off a bubble bomb under my hood. :(

I'll have to get a bead on my tester and crank it up to around 40psi so I can be really depressed.

Why didn't you use PVC? Most guys do. I wouldn't worry about the leaks on the tester, unless the compressor won't keep up. It's not really part of the system, so it won't affect the way it runs.
And as for it shooting off there, must be you never read the posts on doing this test. They all say to be careful and cover the alternator or it can be damaged when, (notice I said when, not if ;) ) the tester comes out.
And yes, I did see the 45* boot, I'm sure it helped.

I've got to practice my welding somewhere, Pete. I know the leaks on the tester don't hurt anything, but if I don't mention them one of my so-called "friends" will. ;)

My tester actually shot into my aftercooler since that's where the location puts it. No harm no foul, besides me running away like a bitch when I saw it start slipping out of the coupler. Also, on that 45* boot, that could be the scariest part of the whole test. I'm almost terrified to turn the regulator up any, because that coupler swells up like a freaking football at 20psi. The other ones start swelling, but none of them even touch the size that that thing swells to.

I didn't get much done on the maintenance side of things, but I wanted to do some drinking and cruising in the Dodge and since we all know the road isn't the place for that I hit a trail behind the house. 8)

Not much to the second pic, but since it was on the phone for some odd reason I figured it may as well end up here. Also, here's a pic of my little buddy that's been hanging out with me all week. If i ever get around to washing my truck he'll be gone forever so I figured a photographic record of him needed to be kept.

He's a cute little guy. Have a sticker made like that and put it right there. Good conversation piece.

Get a total seal muffler clamp and put it over the 45, it may hold a little more.

Actually, I found a 4" T-bolt clamp in my giant box of silicone couplers. Doesn't matter though, it's still embarrassing to go near my intake system system with soapy water when it's got pressure in it.

I'm going back to my old ignorant bliss style of trouble shooting my truck.

Re: Build Thread - Chapter 6: Screw fixing it, I'm changing it!

Well, Pete, I took your last comment to heart and decided to scrap the whole air to water setup.

With the new thread title change, I'm announcing that I've found a factory-style aftercooler and I'll be using it to run as my sole heat exchanger. After seeing all the boost leaks I'm not going to even bother trying to fix them all. My setup will now consist of a normal crossover going straight to the 'cooler.

Now then, I'm going to be asking this all over the place, so I'll start here. I've got the D-tech 62/65/12 turbo with the 3rdgen outlet on the compressor. This is obviously not the best for my setup, so I was wondering if anyone had any experience on whether a compressor housing off a normal 62mm S300 would fit on it.

Hey Stud Muffin I got some good news well atleast if its true. Your D-Tech is a S300 its not really a knock off, its just someones in house made housing its spouse to work with other S300 housings. Also you should have jsut left the Water/Air intercooler at my house :p

I typed in D-Tech and it brought up the company and then under it was a link to a forum where a guy showed it with the housing like yours then it showed it with a different universal housing like a H1C. Looked to be the same one just different inducer housing.
