disc brakes front and rear 92 w250

Postby directinjktn1stgen » Sun Dec 09, 2012 3:20 pm

So Ive been thinking about converting rear drum brakes to disc. I found some info on a bracket system to bolt a chevy 2500 caliper on to it. then i was thinking since the local napa only has squealing front brake pads why not convert the front as well then i can run quailty pads and have some better stopping power. Any way if i do it im planning making everything easier on disassembly as well. I cant remember exactly how the front hub comes off i just know it was pretty rediculous compared to newer body styles dodge, ford and chevy. If anyone else in intreseted as well let me know and when i do it ill do a write up as well with lots of pictures but for now ill be doing research and getting prices and measurements for everything before i start.

Why not just swap in a disc brake rear axle from a 2nd gen?

I converted a dana 60 to rear disc. It was pretty easy and worked great. It used chevy k20 front calipers on the rear. Only downside was that I didnt have a parking brake but the truck was an auto so it didnt matter to me much. s

I bought a kit off ebay. Had $300 in it with everything: brackets, calipers, pads, bolts, and hoses. It was about the same as buying the parts at the parts store and the brackets alone on ebay.
