I will admit I'm apathetic towards most things, and the quote in Caleb's sig is pretty much my approach to life

You and me both

I don't know if any of you wrestled, but here's the story. A kid that wasn't very good but had a lot of heart picked bottom and needed one point (an escape) to tie the match and go to over time. Coach Smith asked "Nick, can you get off bottom?" The mandatory answer from the wrestler is "Yes!" and you fight like heck to get out and tie up the match. Well Nick said "No, I don't think so". So he essentially screwed himself out of the match by picking bottom when he could have picked top and scored offensive points. Coach Smith flung his hands in the air and said "Whatever!" when any other coach would have been livid.

Coach passed away my senior year and that quote, along with "It's Saturday!" to describe tournament day, still make me smile.

I just found out the 81 Volkswagen rabbit in my yard has a ve. There's no ksb, or afc (though that ones understandable because it's non turbo) I think I'll do some more research on it

How do you check ball joints ?. I'm guessing by applying leverage somewhere , but where ? Is some movement acceptable, or the tighter the better ?.
Do better shocks help make the ball joints last longer ?.
I 'm sure regular lubrication plays a big factor.
I have never checked mine, I think it's time. ;)

Thanks,
Bob

use a jack under the lower control arm to keep the suspension compressed then I grab the top and bottom of the wheel and try to move the tire in and out. I always leave them alone if I have to work pretty good to get movement. It gets tricky if your wheel bearings are loose to figure out if its the ball joints or wheel bearings.

Why would you ever want to sell a first gen?

honestly, I would rather own a 3rd gen than a 1st if I could afford it. I like the ride a whole lot better.....even if I sold all three of mine I wouldn't be able to touch a 3rd gen.
