Agricultural systems management. It's a link between the ag engineer and the farmer. In short, I fix the things the ag engineers screw up. A lot of guys go the grain handling or precision ag route, but I'm cutting my own path and trying to get into a data management role on a large farm with enough hands on work to stay sane.

Adolescent 1st gens on FB. Most of the people on there are kids, either mentally (I fit right in  ) or physically, and the comments and responses reflect that. Somebody asks a question because they are having a problem, and they get 2 or 3 good answers and 20 or 30 stupid, smart assed, or meme comments. And of course because they're young, they ignore the good answers and run with the ones from the dumbasses. It gets old.

Mr. Mod, already swinging that E-peen.

I wanted to dig up the writeup for putting a relay on your regulator sense circuit for that fellow that asked about his truck burning up regulators, but he's already got his 15 other answers and is insistent on changing the alternator no matter what.

Tough to even care. :?

Speaking of my supreme wiring knowledge, after failing so far to get the AC compressor to cycle with the switch, the RC had its first meltdown.

Somehow it must have been trying to cycle my nonexistent grids and a bump threw one of the small relay wires onto a fender bolt. Melted my key-on feed wire from the battery and up past where the duckbill is. I've got it loomed so I'm not sure how far it got, but it didn't go past the bulkhead connector so the cab wiring is still safe. 8)

Truck was still idling away too, so the circuit itself is still intact.

I'll report my findings on the compressor tomorrow. I can run it by grounding the wire that goes into the cycle switch, so I figure it's no good.

If you are talking about jumpering the switch by the blower motor under the hood you need to check your system charge as I believe that is a low pressure switch. If your system has lost charge it prevents the compressor clutch from being engaged and damaging the compressor.

There's two, one has 3 wires and one has two. The 3-wire is claimed to be the cycle switch, it's got the little brass rod that goes along/in the pipe.

My pressure switch is broken, but I grounded it out and the compressor didn't kick on. I'll recheck my diagrams, I thought the low pressure switch was after the cycle switch but I may have them backwards.

Thanks for the heads-up, good to see you back.

Also, another question since I'm here babbling. Is there a difference in the wiper motor itself in a delay and 2-speed system? I put a full 91 column in my RC and the only two positions that work are fast and fastest.

I have been going over the diagrams in my FSM a ton lately because of my project and all the wiper motors are the same. The delay is done in the switch/steering column. On the 89 column I have it has a blue box that is plugged into the column harness that is labled "intermittent wiper module". I assume it is what takes the voltage position from the taps on the switch and converts it into a pulse to run the wipers. Much like how a flasher speeds up the flashes or slows down based on amp load of lights the intermittent wiper apparently works the same way, just the switch is the variable load.

Motorcycle clutches, anybody have any input on EBC clutch plates? I was going to go Barnett but they are about $50 more than the EBC for Kevlar ones. I know Barnett makes good stuff, I've used it before.

Good news, everyone!!

I was jumping the wrong connector for my low-pressure switch. I don't know what I was jumping, but I know if you stick a piece of tie-wire in it it'll leave some very interesting patterns in your fingers as you're trying to pull it out.

Found the right one and she's cycling and cold. 8)

Still haven't figured out the wipers yet, but it's not like it's been raining for 2 straight weeks or anything.

Pete, why are you going Kevlar? If it's a stock bike I'd just run whatever. :?

Ummmmm, I kinda have a tendency to run things right to and sometimes past their limits, so I usually replace with better than stock so I don't have to do it more than 2 or 3 times. $50 for a set of stockers or $150 for Kevlar Barnetts with springs, I'll spend the extra money now I think. I was leaning towards stock replacements, then I remembered how I ride and decided it will be better in the long run.
I may ride this for a month and then sell it to get a more sit up bike or I may fall in love with it. Right now it's just an investment that I rode a whole 600 feet yesterday.
