Best shocks (prob already asked)

Postby m880cummins » Thu Feb 02, 2012 3:03 pm

Need to do shocks on my truck and my buddies. Both stock ride height or may be getting 2" in the future. Has Dana 60/70 axles.

Heard Monroes were not rated for the GVW, Ranchos were stiff and Bilsteins are overall the best. What about skyjacker?

Part numbers would be nice!

Wow. Those are ummmm not cheap! Is there something in the $200 range that is a significant improvement over stock?

You have to remember that Bilsteins are rebuildable, probably why they have a higher initial cost.

I have them on mine aswell but haven't driven it yet to report. I also have soft alcan springs so i cannot comment about stock springs.

Most, if not all, lift kit manufacturers use Gabriel shocks. They may be revalved to their specs aka "soft ride Skyjackers" but Gabriels reguardless with a different part # slammed on it.

I agree that Bilstein 5100 is the best shock if you want to buy a quality product with a no b.s. lifetime warranty, but if you're not willing to spend the extra money then get the Gabriels. I recommend calling the guys at Rough Country because they sell them way cheaper than anyone and they will stand behind them when they blow within warranty time.

Charlie, that is bilstein canada. You may want to google to get bilstein in the us, prices may be better. I paid about $60 each for the fronts on my 2wd from E-Shock.com or something like that. Not a bad price I thought.

x2

It made a big difference from the Skyjackers I had before,
and the old shocks was just 1 year old, so they weren't worn out.
(Except for one of the rear shocks that was shot for no apparent reason...)

Even if it's twice the price they're still worth it.
