2 questions..wheels and rear leaf

Postby jorez » Thu Mar 22, 2012 8:39 am

1. Will a set of 2003 Ram 17" wheels fit a 1991 d150 properly?

2. I was searching a forum and found a post that stated that the leaf spring in the rear of a 91 d150 can be replaced with a leaf spring from a 1994-2001 ram 1500...is this true? The post said you can get a Belltech dropped 4" spring and it is a direct replacement...

Any idea on either of these questions?

1. With wheel spacers they will clear.
2. No. The spring centers are different, as is the overall length, though the half ton and 3/4 ton gassers ARE the same width across the spring as 1st gens, at 2.5".

Additionally, when I have questions like these, it always initiates a visit to the junkyards with a tape measure to chase down the rumors.

Some of the Dodge guys are running Chevy springs and relocated mounts for the longer Chevy springs, so I suppose you COULD do the same and run the later Dodge set-up, but really, what is the point?

Mark.
